Bajuluwit attracts only the adult female beetles. The larvae, which are inside the wood, do not respond to the attractant.The adult old house borer are active from June to September. The life cycle from egg to beetle is two to ten years. This long development period depends on the type of wood, its age and quality, moisture content, but also on environmental conditions such as temperature. The larvae usually pupate directly under the wood surface and hatch in the period from June to September. Once the exoskeleton has hardened sufficiently, the beetles eat their way through the wood into the open. The exit holes are 6-10 mm in diameter. The female beetles live about 10 days while the males live 15 days.
