They crawl from the ground up the trunks of their host trees with their six, strong legs where they mate and lay eggs in bark crevices. The eggs overwinter in the crevices. Larvae hatch in spring when the leaves sprout, i.e. from March to May depending on local climate conditions. As the females are very limited in their spatial range and the flying males cannot carry them, their control is very simple: Spray Soveurode Special Glue ring-like around the tree you would like to protect.
