The attractant "Operowit" for the small winter moth attracts the moths. These fly from mid-October to late December to mate. During this time they can be caught. For this purpose, the attractant can either be combined with a sticky trap or, for a mass catch, with the WitaTrap Funnel Trap. The butterfly has various deciduous trees and fruit trees as host trees. The attractant has an effective radius of approx. 15 m and is best attached together with the trap in a neighboring coniferous tree or on a stake (not in the host tree, i.e. the tree to be protected) at a height of approx. 2 m. The distance to the tree to be protected should be 10-12 m. The attractant is effective for about 6 weeks and should then be replaced with a new one.
